Some games age poorly. Their controls feel stiff, their visuals look dated, and their design ideas have been surpassed by everything that came after. But a few titles manage to stay enjoyable long after their release, and a decade later they remain worth playing on current hardware like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
The first is a game that defined a genre and still plays better than most of its imitators. Its combat is deliberate, its world is dense with secrets, and its difficulty curve rewards patience rather than reflexes. Running it on newer hardware smooths out the frame rate issues that plagued the original release, making the experience cleaner without losing what made it special.
The second is a sprawling open world adventure that launched with plenty of technical problems but has since become something far more polished. The writing holds up, the side quests are genuinely interesting, and the sense of exploration still feels rewarding. On current consoles it loads faster and runs more consistently, which fixes the biggest complaints people had at launch.
The third is a tighter, more focused action game that never got the attention it deserved. Its combat system is simple to learn but hard to master, and its level design encourages replaying sections to find new routes and secrets. A decade on, it feels refreshingly direct compared to the bloated releases that dominate the market now.
None of these games need a remake. They just need a chance, and modern consoles give them exactly that.
