DC Studios’ Movie Slate Runs to 2028 — But Its Promised Video Games Are Still MIA

James Gunn and Peter Safran have mapped out the DC Universe on the big screen well into 2028, with titles like Supergirl, Clayface, and the recently announced Man of Tomorrow filling out the calendar. The slate looks busy and ambitious, but there is a glaring hole that fans have been pointing at for months: the video games that were supposed to come along with this new shared universe have yet to materialize in any official form.

When Gunn and Safran first laid out their plans for the DCU back in early 2023, they made a point of saying that games would be part of the package. The idea was that the movies, TV shows, and interactive experiences would all exist in the same continuity, telling connected stories across different media. That sounded great in theory. In practice, though, not a single game has been announced since then. No titles, no studios attached, no release windows. Nothing.

The film side is moving forward at a steady clip. Superman kicks things off next summer, followed by Supergirl in 2026, then Clayface and the Batman-centric Dynamic Duo in 2027, with Man of Tomorrow closing out the current announced run in 2028. There is also a Swamp Thing movie in the works, though it does not have a set date yet. So the creative engine is clearly running. But the interactive side of the DCU remains a blank page.

It is not as if there is no precedent for superhero games tied to film universes. The old Batman Arkham games did their own thing, and the Marvel movies have had plenty of tie-in titles over the years, with mixed results. The difference here is that Gunn has talked openly about wanting games to be a meaningful part of the DCU, not just cheap cash-ins. That takes time, sure, but it has been almost two years since that promise was made, and fans are starting to wonder if the games were ever more than a talking point.

There is also the question of what those games would even look like. Would they follow the movie characters directly? Would they fill in gaps between films? Would they be standalone stories set in the same universe? None of that has been clarified. The silence is getting louder with each new movie announcement.

For now, the DCU is a film and television project with a lot of momentum. But the missing games are a reminder that a shared universe is only as strong as its weakest link, and right now, that link is completely absent.
