What I'd like to see in Call of Duty 2026 (which is probably Modern Warfare 4)

As the Call of Duty franchise barrels toward 2026, all signs point to another entry in the Modern Warfare series, likely Modern Warfare 4. While the series has had its highs and lows, there are a few key changes that could make the next installment stand out. Here is what I hope to see.

First, less doors. The door mechanic introduced in the 2019 reboot has overstayed its welcome. It slows down gameplay, encourages camping, and creates frustrating peeking situations. Removing or drastically reducing them would restore the fluid movement the series is known for.

Second, the pace needs improvement. Recent titles have felt sluggish, with larger maps and slower sprint-out times. A return to faster, more arcade-style gunfights would bring back the adrenaline that made older entries addictive. The game should reward aggressive play, not punish it.

Third, open matchmaking. Skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) has become a polarizing topic. While it helps new players, it punishes veterans by creating sweaty lobbies every match. A more relaxed system, or separate playlists for ranked and casual, would let friends of different skill levels play together without frustration.

Finally, better map design. Recent games rely on sightlines and headglitches. Classic three-lane maps with clear flow would be a welcome return. No more maze-like layouts that reward hiding.

Call of Duty 2026 has potential, but it needs to listen to the community. Less clutter, more speed, and fair matchmaking could make it the best entry in years.
