I finally counted them the other day. Forty-eight games sitting in my library, untouched or barely started. Some were bought on sale with good intentions. Others came free with subscriptions. A few I genuinely want to play, but the sheer number makes me freeze up every time I open my console.
The problem is not the games. It is the pressure I put on myself to finish everything. I realized I was treating gaming like a job with a quota. That is not why I started playing.
So I changed my approach. First, I sorted the list into three groups. The first group is games I am excited about right now. The second is games I might enjoy later. The third is games I bought by mistake or that no longer interest me. That last group gets deleted or hidden. No guilt.
Next, I set a simple rule. I play one game at a time, and I give it two hours. If it does not hook me after two hours, I move on. That rule alone cleared out a lot of clutter. Some games are just not for me, and that is fine.
I also stopped forcing myself to complete everything. A game can be good even if I only play the main story and skip the side quests. I used to feel like I had to see every ending or collect every item. Now I just play until I am satisfied, not until the credits roll.
Finally, I stopped buying new games unless I finish two from the backlog. That rule has been hard, but it works. My list is down to 31 now. It will probably never hit zero, and I am okay with that. The goal is not to clear the list. The goal is to enjoy the time I have.
