SAG-AFTRA Introduces New Agreements for Student Developers and Game Jams

SAG-AFTRA today announced the establishment of two new agreements aimed at supporting aspiring video game developers: the Student Interactive Waiver Agreement and the Game Jam Waiver Agreement. These initiatives are designed to facilitate opportunities for students and participants in game jam events, allowing them to gain valuable experience in the industry while navigating the complexities of union regulations.
The Student Interactive Waiver Agreement allows students to work on projects without the typical constraints associated with union contracts, enabling them to create innovative content and build their portfolios. Similarly, the Game Jam Waiver Agreement provides a framework for participants in game jams, which are often time-sensitive and collaborative events, ensuring that their contributions are recognized and protected.
