Looking for a new game to dive into over the summer? I have you covered. These three titles are my personal favorites when I need something fun to do, and they work great for playing with friends or family.
First up is "Stardew Valley." This farming and life simulation game is deceptively simple. You inherit a run-down farm and must restore it by planting crops, raising animals, and befriending the townspeople. What makes it special is the freedom. You can spend hours mining for ore, fishing by the river, or just decorating your farm. The multiplayer mode lets up to four people work together, so you and your family can build a farm as a team. It is relaxing without being boring.
Next is "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" on the Nintendo Switch. This is the ultimate party game. The controls are easy to learn, but the drifting and item management take real skill. You can race against each other on wild tracks with anti-gravity sections and underwater loops. The battle mode is also a blast, especially when you throw a blue shell at your sibling at the last second. It is chaotic, colorful, and always gets everyone laughing.
Finally, "It Takes Two" is a co-op adventure designed specifically for two players. You and a partner play as a couple turned into tiny dolls, and you must work together to solve puzzles and overcome obstacles. Every level introduces a new mechanic, from vacuum cleaners that suck up objects to giant wasps you can ride. The story is heartfelt and funny, and the gameplay forces real teamwork. It is one of the best games to play with a friend or a family member because you cannot play it alone.
These three games cover different moods. "Stardew Valley" is calm and creative, "Mario Kart" is fast and competitive, and "It Takes Two" is a shared journey. Pick one, grab a controller, and enjoy the summer.
