The iconic arcade racing game Crazy Taxi is making a comeback. Sega has officially announced "Crazy Taxi: World Tour," a new entry in the long-dormant series, and it is set to launch across multiple platforms sometime next year. The announcement was accompanied by a trailer that shows off a vibrant, modernized take on the classic formula.
The new game retains the core loop that made the original a hit: pick up passengers, race through chaotic city streets, and deliver them to their destination as fast as possible. The trailer highlights a bright, stylized open world filled with traffic, pedestrians, and plenty of shortcuts. The physics look exaggerated and fun, with cars bouncing off ramps and sliding through tight corners.
Crazy Taxi: World Tour will be available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. The developers have not yet specified a precise release date, but they have confirmed the game is targeting a 2025 launch. The trailer also suggests that online multiplayer will be a feature, allowing players to compete for fares in the same city.
Fans of the original arcade and Dreamcast versions will notice a familiar energy. The soundtrack appears to feature high-energy punk and rock tracks, though the specific bands have not been listed. The visual style is a clear evolution of the late 90s aesthetic, with neon signs, crowded sidewalks, and a sense of controlled chaos.
This revival is part of a larger trend of Sega bringing back its classic franchises. While details on the game's full feature set remain limited, the trailer has generated significant excitement. For now, players can look forward to picking up passengers and flooring the gas pedal once again.
